If you have a cumulative 3.5 GPA in High School, you will likely not do better in University, and you will very likely not be selected for Medical School. It is true that the GPA "resets" in university, but the ugly fact is that medical students usually have very high GPA throughout High School and University.

My guess is you should aim lower, such as one of the following health professions (though, note, these too are extremely competitive):

Osteopath
Podiatrist
Pharmacist
Optometrist
Audiologist
Physician's Assistant

The other choice of course is RN Nurse, leading to Nurse Practitioner

Your high school GPA means nothing, and just because you did poorly in highschool doesn't reflect how you will do in college. There is such a drastic difference between being a freshman in highschool at fifteen and a freshman in college at nineteen that its not even fair to compare the two.

a 3.7 is a pretty good GPA. The top medical schools want about a 3.81, but that's just an average.

Basically, all you need to worry about now is getting into a good college, and doing well on your MCATs, earning a high GPA, volunteering, gaining leadership experiences, etc.
