I’m a home schooled SOPHOMORE, planning on going to college for premed. I would like to major in either Physics or Psychology and minor in Women’s Studies. I really like North Carolina – Chapel Hill. It just seems like a perfect fit for me (semi-close to home [I am out-of-state though], great academics, etc.)

I know it can be difficult to get into UNC. But do you think I have what is takes to get in? What are my chances? What more can I do?

Classes I’ve taken/will be taking (9th and 10th grade):
•Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Health, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Physical Science, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, U.S. History, Advanced World History, Debate, Human Geography, Biology, Advanced Psychology, Chemistry, Grammar, Grammar and Composition, Vocabulary, Keyboarding/computer, Format Writing, Writing, World/English Literature, Introduction to Geography, Consumer Math, Medical Terminology (online and textbook), Art, Anthropology, Advanced Macroeconomics, Ancient Latin, German language, German history and culture•

–and the MS Association
FACTS:
4.0 unweighted GPA.
PLAN (preliminary ACT) score was 30 out of 32.
I’m also in the National Home School Society (like the National Honor Society)! (:
Over the summer in between Sophomore and Junior year (summer 2010) I’ll be taking a couple courses at my local Community College to become a certified Phlebotomist.
*Junior Year: I’ll probably be doing Biology research at a university.

Clubs:
- Knitting (haha)
- German
- Book Club
- Kickboxing
- Dance class
BTW: Just so you know I can NOT take AP where I live but by the time a graduate I will have taken Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics, Honors Pre-Calculus, Honors Calculus, and Honors German language.

Thanks for all your opinions and advice! I will pick a Best Answer. (:

Online french courses for university credit?

Hello, I need to take 4 foreign language courses for my college, so I was wondering if there were any accredited places to take the credits online for this summer that would count towards an accredited university (Liberty U).

Thanks!

My sister and I want to sell our old clothing on a free website online. (We’ll take care of the marketing around our college campuses.) Are there legal issues we should be aware of? Do we need a business license or some kind of selling certificate? Do we have to pay/charge tax? We have no plans to have our business name trademarked yet.

Personal experience would be awesome.

I have already had ap psychology (got a 3 on the exam)and I’m currently taking ap environmental science and I would like to take one more but it has to be online because all my schedule is already full. And there is no next year because I’m a senior. I would like to take one more though. No English or history as I can barely handle the cp level of those.

By the way I am doubling up on science this year but I have never taken physics. Is that bad? I have had physical science (I got a B), honors biology (I got a B), cp chem (I got an A) and I’m in ap environmental science right now and I currently have a 84 and I’m trying to bring it up(it’s not online though, in school) and I have forensics science next semester which they only have in the cp level at me school.

I really messed up part of my junior year, got a D in geometry (but my god knows I DEF tried and was always staying after school for it) and a D in English. That was first semester, (my school I’m currently attending is on block)the next semester I almost got all A’s except for one little 89.

This is my last year in high school and I really want to get it right this time! I really want to go to college!!

I’m a junior (third year) student at college. I am studying English. In preparation for the job market, i am planning to take an ONLINE introduction course to business and maybe some more courses from a VERY well-known university in the US.
My questions:

1- Will it be useful when i apply for a job? especially when i get a certificate from an accredited and known-for-its-good-education school.

2- Do employers in [[Saudi Arabia]] accept this kind of certificates (Distance Learning)? (baring in mind the high ranking of the university)

3- Any suggestions or advice?

Sorry it’s long.
Thank you in advance :)

How do I move past my self-hatred?

I am 18 years-old and have been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome.

For my entire life I have had a strong amount of hate towards myself. Throughout most of my life I have referred to myself as being a failure. I blame mostly school for this, but I am aware school is not the only reason.

In school, my work was always crap. A 60% was usually the highest I could ever get on anything: sports, math, spelling, writing, music, etc. My best friend, at the time, was a genius as far as I am concerned. He could always managed to ace every subject, always getting in the high +90% range or perfect.

My dad (April 12th, 1959 – February 9th, 2009) had a great amount of self-hatred himself. Before he killed himself, he use to say that he failed at his job, failed at being a father, etc. etc.

Although now I am in high school and my grades are significantly different than elementary school, there are still numerous signs pointing me in the direction of self-hatred. Most of this seems to stem from comparing myself to others. In high school I suck at every subject, except geography and philosophy. Every other subject (Math, Science, Chemistry, Biology, Law, Gym, Human Growth, etc.) I suck at. I become extremely frustrated at myself when I see a student who can ace my courses and just about every other course available. Last year I received an award in geography. Kayla, a student, received an award in geography, law, chemistry, biology, mathematics, English, and a citizenship award. I cannot help but look at someone like Kayla and think, "Wow…I really suck."

Then there are relationships that generally have made me feel the worst. My five year crush, Michelle, "wants nothing to do with me." That’s absolutely devastating to me. I’ve been hospitalized twice over this girl because of self-mutilation. How on Earth can I think positively about myself when my dream girl doesn’t like me? Yes I am aware that there are other women in the world and I have held other relationships, however no one has captured my attention like this girl. This "silent rejection" (she never rejected me personally in fear that I would kill myself, which I’ve attempted to over her) makes me think that I cannot be loved when combined with all the other social failures of mine.

In the midst of all this, my dad just died; we are losing our home; I have to pull in wonderful marks in school for university; and all the other stress I have to deal with.

As for friends, I basically do not have any. Sure I have some online buddies whom I have met through Yahoo Answers and Facebook, but very few close friends who actually live in the same country as me.

How, with all this said, do I think positively about myself?

Online Business Management (College)?

I’m interested in obtaining a business degree online, but was wondering about the difficulty of it overall.

If you were someone who received a degree this way, do you find online classes easier versus a classroom setting? About the same? Harder to achieve?

Any recommendations for school, as well?

I obviously have to do further research, but thought I would start here. Any input is great, thanks in advance.

Can anyone provide a list of college schools that offer online courses in calculus or physics that will transfer to a university. No University of Phenoix or anything like that. I need an actual school that just happes to offer online courses in those subjects because it is hard to take those electives at my school because they always conflict with my schedule.
